Happy Motivational Monday! I hope you had a fantastic weekend and are ready to rock the week ahead! I don’t know about you, but I have an absolutely crazy busy week ahead. Granted most weeks are busy for me, but this one will be wide open. Slathered, smothered, and covered!
What I’ve come to realize that’s been counter intuitive for many years, is that when my schedule is off the chart like this week I handle it way better when I get some exercise in. When it feels like there is more to get done than time in the day exercise usually is the first task to get dropped off the “to do” list. Sometimes something’s gotta give in the schedule to allow time for the most important tasks and exercise can easily get canned.
Truth is though that exercise helps us deal better with the hectic and chaos. The chemicals that are released in the brain with even a little exercise helps us feel more in control, eases stress, and boosts our moods.
Exercise normally allows me 15 – 30 minutes to myself in the mornings to collect my thoughts. With a crazy day in front of me, that also allows me an opportunity to gain clarity on the day ahead, plan, and prioritize. Then I feel energized to make it happen and also feel a sense of greater control.
So, the next time you find yourself wondering how everything is going to get done, resist the urge to skip your workouts. Get something in; be it a brisk walk, an interval workout, or short video. You’ll feel better and be glad that you did!
If you find yourself short on time, here’s a 12 minute interval workout that can be done in your living room.
Hope you have a great week!
